I bought an external 5.25" drive on e-bay (i think it was) and it worked right out of the box. I only have PC0 and fat95 installed.
I bought the disk drive to read and write C64 disks.
I just have not come around to do so. My amigas are still a mess in some boxes around the house after moving 5 times since 2006 when i bought the drive.
Amiga 1200 Tower Os 3.9
BPPC 603e+ 040-25/200, 256MBram, BVIsionPPC, Indivision AGA MK2.
Amiga 2000 (rev 4.0) Os 1.2/1.3
2088 bridgeboard, 2MB ram card, 2091 SCSI.
