Some CF/IDE adapters is set to MASTER by default. And some of them do not have the option of changing it to slave.
I put fat95 in L of the Workbench floppy and an edited CF0 driver into Devs/DOSDrivers of the floppy
Why? When a CF card is inserted to these adapters they should appear as a normal IDE harddisk. No need to install any drivers at all.
If you wish to use CF as PC - Amiga transfer device I am sure you will have more luck in using a PCMCIA - CF adapter like
this Ooops. my fault. was in A1200 mode... :-D
You said something about a zip drive, didn't you?
Try booting the machine from floppy with WB and hdtoolbox. Format the CF/IDE device as a normal HDD... And it should appear as a normal HDD. And make sure it is changeable between master and slave.
