Custom chip emulation I bet.

If it allows for a full "Minimig" core to run on the FPGA then it might also explain the CF Card slot which could be used to hold the core, Kickstart, Hard File and ADF images.  Now that would be sweet!

Couldn't they just go on the hard disk?

Yes.  For example the C-One minimig allows the use of a real Amiga hard drive or a hard file on the CF Card.  It's just handy to have all of your Minimig classic stuff in one place.

Of course, this might have nothing to do with any sort of Minimig core running and whoever designed the board just might have shares in a CF Card maufacturing plant.

Hey, you were the one that put MiniMig in the "top dollar for dated technology ... Amiga fanboy folly" camp, not me. I just pointed out that Minimig is, actually, as close to free as it gets.

and it is fun!  ;)

@ Rogue:

Can I firstly say "Thank you" to you and the rest of the team...

...and then can I add "Where are the Atari-Style joystick ports?".  ;)  :D

That might actually be 'X', you know ;)

(and I bet you think I am kidding now, do you)

LOL, at this point nothing would surprise me.  :)

I have to say that withr regards to "legacy support", the one thing that I'd felt that has been missing on available Amiga-like solutions (WinUAE, Amiga One, etc) has always been the good old digital joystick ports and that's why solutions like the C-One and Minimig feel like "real" Amigas.  If there's are actual joystick ports on the production board, or headers for attaching some, or at least some sort of plug-in board then I'll definately be satisfied.

I'm really looking forward to the finished product and the spec list.

Catweasle PCI card will give you your digital joystick ports.

Good point, assuming we have drivers... and I'm looking at the Catweasle in my Windows 7 beta PC that stopped working when I upgraded from XP...

(Well, I tell a lie, it does work when I boot in XP, but the only time I do that is to use the Catweasle which is very annoying).

@Darrin,

The drivers are being worked on. From what I undersand the latest ones for OS4 have Amiga floppy R/W working well.

Chris

Cheers Chris, that's great news.
