No, the last hurricane to hit Louisiana was around 2 or 3 years ago.  It came in near Lafayette and most people in my city and all the patients from my wife's hospital evacuated.  I stayed as my home is at a decent elivation.  I think most of the damage was done around East Lafayette and some areas were without power for weeks.

Anyway, my house is around 2 hour drive from New Orleans and wasn't harmed, but my wife is working overtime to deal with all of the patients that have been evacuated to her hospital.  All of our hotels are full and our sports stadium is also being used to house the homeless.

It's a real mess apparently.  I'm away on a business trip at the moment so I've yet to see it with my own eyes.
