Wanted: A4000 CPU cards, Daughterboard, etc

OK, I think it's time I posted in here.

The only reason I am not called Merlin on here is because I changed ISPs and for some reason the account went FUBAR, so at the time I PM'd and asked Wayne to allow me to have the Merlin account back as it wasn't doing anything; he refused, saying that accounts don't get merged or reallocated, even though the Merlin account hadn't posted that much. That's the only reason I am not called Merlin and ended up being called WotTheFook on here. On other Amiga forums I am Merlin. Merlin is just too common a name for me to use it on eBay.

This doesn't need to deteriorate into some 'red vs blue' keyboard warrior war. A.org and AmiBay serve fundamentally different purposes for the retro community and it's frankly damaging and pointless to get into keyboard warrior flame wars about it. If you don't like what AmiBay is about, don't come to the site, what's hard about that? The sites walk different paths, it's that simple.

One key difference between AmiBay and a.org is that we try to provide a safe trading haven for our members, this is a major part of our site and is a relatively small part of A.org by comparison. We try to provide a service to our members that is free from exploitation and scalping by traders and it is this very point that started this whole thread. It's been dug over enough, so I am not going to comment on it.

One point I will make though; we don't allow trolling or flaming on AmiBay and from what I've read in this thread, a lot of the a.org posters in here wouldn't last very long.

I would ask that AmiBayers let this matter go, as the arguing back and forth isn't doing anything productive, so let the two sites agree to differ and go their separate ways.

In the middle of all of this, I would just like to ask a serious question that's been bugging me over the last couple of days that this thread has been running.

Just what did Doomy do on here that managed to get him banned, since trolling, flaming, abusive language and ripping members off aren't reasons to get banned on here, apparently....??

I know that Doomy's Greatgossip site was a piece of work at the time it was out there, but some of the comments on here are getting damn close to the same language that Doomy used on that site.

If you took the time out from trolling and stopped to re-read your posts, you might realise that comments like "rules are made to be broken" and  "rules are frigging queer" just about sums up a lot of what is wrong in the US right now... If that's really your attitude, then I hope that your soap has a rope on the end of it when you break one rule too many and end up in the showers in the big house.....

Do you have Alzheimers or something? Did the whole General Motors bankruptcy thing pass you by? Did the whole near-collapse of the mortgage market in the USA through Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae not reach your ears? Does the US and the UK trying to print their way our of money problems not strike you as flawed?

The US (and the UK , for that matter) economy is nowhere near recovered yet, the whole thing is too fragile and they haven't fixed the "bankers playing in the futures casino and winning whatever happens" scenario yet. OK, I suppose 'breaking rules' was all part of that, so you do maybe have a partial point.

If fixing the US economy is as easy as the 5-minute "if it sucks, fix it" way you seem to think will solve the problems - please don't think I'm xenophobic as I am not, however, if it was that easy, wouldn't Obama have fixed it by now? The Western economies as a whole are deeply screwed right now, right across the board and no European government has an answer to it, let alone the US.

Pretentious? No, I just happen to be well read and educated and I don't see that I need to descend to your level of juvenile comments to make my point. Trolling doesn't necessarily make you right..

Oh, and if you think that Amibay is 1984, you might want to consider updating your website in your signature - it looks like it's not been updated since 1995.....

Obvious troll is obviously trolling. I guess that there really aren't any rules on here these days and I am amazed that a Mod or Admin hasn't stepped in to moderate or even close this thread.
