I don't have had any stability issues with my Delfina Lite. It's overclocked from 40MHz to 60MHz with oscillator crystal. Less overclocking would probably be enough too. Nowadays you can overclock them with software too. Other Delfina models won't need overclocking to play biggest bitrate mp3:s.
Me and many of my friends are very pleased with Delfinas.. it's just joy to play mp3 without any cpu-load at all :) Not to talk about other features of Delfina.. like mixing several audiosources with it (3 external inputs in Lite).

And of course there's the MAS-player. You can make one yourself or buy premade thing under 50 pounds or something. It connects to parallel (and serial?) port and has good sound quality, but it's only for playing mp3 and doesn't have other features of the usual sound cards. You can use it's own fullscreen player or AmigaAmp for example.

Fake crash requester was on delfina.library until version 4.14. Later ones don't have it anymore, but even the latest beta libraries tend to hang with Lite sooner or later when using DSP. Best solution for Lite is to use patched libraries from Smack. They don't have fake crash or "real" crashes either :)
I don't remember any installation to be cryptic in any way..

Unfortunately Smack lost his hd etc, so they're not available from him anymore I think, but at least for a while they're available at http://jpv.wmhost.com/delflib_patch_2.lzx

To be more exact, you can play mp3 songs with all models of Delfina (including Delfina DSP, Delfina 1200, Delfina Lite, Delfina Plus and Delfina Flipper) since they all have DSP on board.

And in addition to those players listed above, mhimdev.library is a wrapper that allows you to use MHI compatible players (like AmigaAMP) with Delfina's hardware decoding. In DivX/mpeg decoding you can only decode the sound with hw, not the video.
