I have GVP HC+8 in A2000 and it works with 16x SCSI CD-ROM. I don't remember now what CDFS I installed to it.. not too long time ago, but can't just remember
I could check it some other day. But anyway, it's not using scsi.device, it's gvpscsi.device or something like that. And unit depends how you've configured your cd-rom drive. SCSI id's are configured with jumpers on drive.

gvpscsi.device is in card's rom.. so you can't find a file.
AmigaOS comes at least with editor called ed. It sucks in many ways, but if you haven't installed better one, you can do simple things with it.
