a steal, or a costly mistake?
« on: March 09, 2007, 05:06:34 AM »
i was just flipping through ebay, as i've been doing lately, and this popped up:

http://tinyurl.com/2zudk5

you can guess what happened - i thought that if this is something that i could use for my A1200 that this would be a great price and that someone's probably going to jump on it. of course, i jumped in and bought it. then everything came rushing in that i have no idea what it is. i'm now under the impression that it's just a single Motorola DSP chip.

i'm guessing i've done something bad? damn...

it's ok, you can let me have it. well deserved. wouldn't you agree that 'upgrade' is a bit misleading though? the worst part is that i don't even need a 'fast' Amiga, not sure what i was thinking.

that's it, i'm done buying odds and ends until i talk to you guys first. glad it wasn't more money than that, i'm not quite in a position to be tossing it around. maybe they'll let me out of it, but i'm not counting on it. oh well... thanks for your help though.

whew, what a relief. they ended up being very cool about it, and let me out for a 20% restocking fee. this would be about $3, i happily gave them the $6 that happened to be left in my paypal account. and we'll be leaving positive feedback for each other. great! glad that's out of the way, no more screwing around.

after i bought it i did a bit of searching on ebay. i think i ended up finding a few of the same for cheaper actually from other buyers. they don't say these are new, but pulled from existing units. would that still work? where could i find an accelerator without a chip on it? and where were you last night?
