I think the problem is the lack of cheap available high end PPC cards. I couldn't do all the things I do with a modest Centrino* on a 680x0 Amiga. Even with OS4 on a classic Amiga with PPC and 128mb I don't know if all tasks I do on it have similar applications for OS4. Streaming flash content is definitely out though at PPC accelerator speeds probably so no TV at my desk I guess.

I wouldn't say becoming a PC owner was a 'joyful experience' at all, but then Commodore went bust and a few clueless muppets bought their IP so it's not like I had a choice. If the new owners of Commodore had kept up and at least just ported OS4 to x86 last decade and forgot about custom chips it would still have been enough. I wouldn't have been happy but still better than nothing and at least I could have avoided Winblows :)

*which I could still do on a P3 machine with XP I suppose.

I got a 486 in 93/94 but my A1200 was still my main machine, the PC was for Uni specific work (things like writing Dbase 3+ code etc).

I think that all stopped a couple of years later when I got a Pentium MMX machine and used that for VCDs and Netscape.

PC games were boring most of the time in the mid 90s I found, I really didn't like all that CD-ROM FMV crap like 7th Guest or Megarace or the million and one point and click adventures like Sam & Max/Day of the Tentacle....now with sampled sound woooo (been there, done all that years before).

I think the turning point was Team 17 not even attempting World Rally Fever on Amiga, even 030 only machines etc, ditto with Psygnosis and Novastorm (CD32 much superior than PC CD for that game too!) but still I kept with it because Dos/Windows 3.x was a complete bag of shite and using a PC was not something I looked forward to, especially a million and one Config.sys setups for each game.
