Update March 19, 2010:

Every story, which seemed somewhat preposterous (© Jacques Chirac) is proving to be an April Fool in advance, in any case the assertion site NoWhereElse.fr who led his little investigation. Of course, they also thought it was a shameless copy of the All-in-One Cybernet, but they also went digging on the side of the web site address. Indeed, it is hosted on a free platform the first 10 days (Citymax, so we can assume that that site will disappear around the 26 or March 27). Furthermore, the contact address available on the website of "Commodore USA" is in fact an address linked to a site selling antique furniture.

Hence to say that this is a joke made by a company employee of furniture on his working time, there is not one that we let you cross alone.

If you need a good computer, read this (see on AMIGAWORLD.NET): COMMODORE 64@933Mhz

Without VIC-II or SID it is NOT a C64 for god's sake! A PC is a PC running the same crappy OS as all other PCs...I don't care if it is inside a C64 case. Using a C64 keyboard on a PC is about as lame as these companies get

You quoted the wrong post. Also, it's clearly still a C64, but repaired and upgraded with commonly avalible parts. it makes the most logical sense. It's a manyfold improvement. So he can't use floppys or tapes any more. Who cares? floppys, especially those 5.25 ones, suck. they're slow, corrupt easily, and take up space. Tapes? lol.

When will people stop pretending the chips, the very thing that they cannot actually see -

No strike that

- The layout of some transistors inside the chips, something they cannot see, feel, or hear, actually matter. They don't.  There is only two things that matters:

1) it works.
2) it can do what it was made for.

Stop acting like a child.

erm even today using a dual core CPU JUST FOR reSID it is still not 100% accurate...and who uses DVDs any more...so why bugger up the casing when a small SD card slot where the tape deck is works better.

The shape or colour does not make a C64 what it is, no more than a hat on your head makes you the person you are...it's what's inside that counts in both cases.

The muted colours, the familiar sound of combinations of SID features, the advantages and disadvantages producing the compromises compared to other 8bit machines at the time...THIS is what makes a C64...not some piece of shit mini ITX with an Intel/AMD running an emulator.

Sure it looks cool, but why would I run a compromised bit of kit like that. I have...

The perfect computer for my needs.
A real C64 and CRT display.

So between the two above I have no need for anything else...VICE runs fine with TV output and a Stelladaptor on Wintel box and real C64s of various flavours for the real nostalgia hit of loading music and clanky keyboard :)

You comments surprise me though, not only are you speaking like a spoilt little gates banger but factually incorrect to the disadvantage of the achievements to the manufacturer of the Amiga...both aspects of your character have no place on this Amiga forum TYVM.
