I've had quite some problems using applications with P96  Voodoo3 where the applications themselves tries to pick suitable screenmodes (ShowAmiga96, Earth 2140 intro animation, and so on).

However, I recently stumbled upon the Amiga-Mediator homepage where I found the solution to the problem:

Quote
6/ The introduction videos for Earth2140 are not playing on my system. Why not?

When the game starts it issues a command to the Voodoo drivers to find out the 'BestModeID' to use for the introduction animations in the game. It appears that the version of picasso96 that most of us are using does not have this feature available. There is a solution to this problem though and that is to download the Picasso96 archive off the Matay homepage (creators of the Prometheus PCI expansion). In that archive you will need to find two files (as follows).

(I extracted the archive to RAM

Ram Diskicasso96install/libs/picasso96/emulation.library
Ram Diskicasso96install/libs/Picasso96API.library

Copy those files to the appropriate Libs: directorys on your system and then after a reboot you should have the 'BestModeID' function available for applications that require this.

However, the files are no longer to be found on the site that Amiga-Mediator points to. This I have to ask: can someone help me out locating any of the following four files?

* Picasso96_Prometheus.lha
* V3_Aug17.lha
* P96API_fix.lha
* EMU_fix.lha

The two first files both include both of the two patched libraries. The last two files each holds one of the patched libraries. Thus Picasso96_Promoetheus.lha or V3_Aug17.lha would be prefered.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hm, yes, I think Picasso96 v2.1b was released a couple of months after those patched libraries were released, so I guess they are included in the v2.1b archive.

Just wanted to add that every application that wants to find by itself suitable sreenmodes (like Earth 2140 intro, ShowAmiga96 and so on) now works PERFECTLY!

It is a shame that these two updated libraries, emulation.library and Picasso96API.library, can't be downloaded from ANYWHERE, hosted permanently somewhere, as of today (especially since they were freely downloadable on the Prometheus support page before). They did indeed solve many problems I've had with apps in the past!

Once again, thanks for the help!
