I have never been able to get Netsurf to anything other than crash my miggy into a reboot, every time & every version. I have even raised a bug on the bugtrack and they are asking for other people's experience.

That was exactly it! Soon as I dropped down from 24bit to 16bit, I was able to run Netsurf for the 1st time.
