One of my favourite games was Armour Geddon on the Amiga, I loved how you could link Amiga's up over serial cable and co-ordinate attacks.
Eg you could have a helicopter providing a light tank with air support, etc.
Sort of like Battlefield 1942 without the soldiers just the vehicles with strategy built in (eg where to put your funds into what resources).
