Hi everyone.
I've been reading posts on this forum and Amigaworld.net for a few years now. I've also started reading posts on The Amigans forum recently. I've kept tabs on the Amiga for many years, plus I've been keeping tabs on the Newtek site and watching posts about the Amiga Toaster and also what has been going on with the PC Toaster.
My very first Amiga was an Amiga 500 shortly when they came out around 1987 or 88, I believe. This was my very first computer that I bought on my own as a teenager. My family had been using a C64 for years, and the Amiga was my own. Over time, I bought a A2000 and installed a Toaster in it and fun with putting tapes together. Eventually, I bought the Flyer to do tapeless editing for school projects I was working on, and then bought an A4000 so that I could move everything over to it and make use of the AGA effects.
My trusty A4000 served me well. Technology on the Mac and PC was catching up though. I saw games coming out that I wanted to play, but didn't want to buy the other computer. I bought the 'ol Emplant Mac emulator, and that worked well to give me a taste of the other side. Eventually I expanded and got the PC addition to the Emplant. That was really slow, lol! :lol:
I loved Flight Simulator during those days, and I wanted to try out the new FS at the time which was FS5.0. PC Emplant did actually run it, but it was very slow. The Amiga was getting used less and less, and eventually I broke down and bought my first PC which was a Packard Bell Pentium 90.
It was okay, but ick. Later I learned to custom build my own PC, and that worked out really well for me. Meanwhile my A4000 was collecting dust, although it was used for editing from time to time. During my PC years, I became a fan and "addict" of The Sims. It became my favorite game. Today, I'm a news reporter and story writer over on

I miss my Amiga. I still have my Amiga 500 and 2000, but both stopped working. I need to look into getting those repaired. Actually, I wouldn't mind learning how to repair them on my own. I live in Arizona, and I don't believe we have any local support here anymore. So if I can learn how to repair, it would be beneficial to other Amigans out here. I also would like to learn programming for the Amiga too, but not sure where to start.
I've been watching the news about the Amiga, kept tabs on the AmigaOne, and was excited to see that OS4 has finally been finished. I've always been hoping for the Amiga to return, and it's given me some excitement to return to the Amiga. Thus, I've decided to sign up and start being a part of the community again. I haven't been part of an Amiga community since my early days with CompuServe. It's been a long while, but I'm back.
Hopefully, my wife approves. :-D
