OK, it's time for a stupid question: What about FPGA? I assume it's not possible or somebody would have suggested it by now... but I don't mind playing the fool and asking. :)

Granted, but that wasn't the point of my question. Not that I expected my point to be obvious.

You were responding to freqmax's point about dead motherboards. And that's why I asked. Real hardware is getting scarce, that's the reality of the situation, and thus the reason for my question.
