My daughter survived this car crash :-o
« on: March 28, 2008, 02:27:18 PM »
 :-o  :-o  :-o

Just 30 days after passing her driving test my daughter was late for work and drove too fast in wet conditions. Her car slid across the road, hit and climbed up a mud bank before rolling over twice. She was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown out through the drivers side door window as it rolled over. Her car then either slid into her on its roof or partially landed on her. It's a miracle that she is still alive with not too serious injuries to her head, face, leg and feet.

It appears that you can give advice and warnings of the dangers to young drivers, but they need a scare to drive home the real dangers of being out there on the road. We can only hope that it isn't a fatal scare.

Please show this to any young drivers that you know. If it can make one of them slow down, always wear their seatbelt, and save their life, I would be very pleased :-)

The crash actually occured at 10AM on Sunday 16th March and it is hard to believe that my daughter left hospital on that very same day. They glued the back of her head, stitched the hole in her chin and bandaged her legs and feet after doing X-rays to check her over fully and to see if the greatly swollen ankle was broken. Luckily it was not.

I only saw the wreckage of the Daewoo Matiz and took that photo on Wednesday myself, and I'm as shocked as you guys are at the sight of it. I'm pleased to be able to tell you that my daughter is making good progress. A dentist is rebuilding her broken teeth and she is waiting for her leg and feet injuries to heal so as to be able to walk properly again.

I went to where the crash happened and found her missing ear-ring. I'm well aware that I could have been placing flowers there instead. Had the worst happened life would have been totally unbearable now and I can feel that alternate reality.

@ cecilia

So sorry to hear about your friends :-(

@ whabang

Glad your little brother survived.

Thank you moto :pint:

We're all feeling relieved and doing fine. Corrina has actually made it to a wedding in London today. She'll probably have to explain what happened to herself a hundred times while receiving lots of sympathy and affection :-)

Hey! I don't even have to worry about her drinking and driving :-D

@ karlos

I'm pleased your friend was ok too and I agree that this could have been much, much worse. Corrina lost contol after going around a bend at approx 40MPH along a busy country lane. Had another car been coming the other way when she skidded across to the other side of the road, the resulting carnage and loss of life is unthinkable.

This accident still have an effect on my driving today

Your careful driving since that accident could have saved your life many times. I'm hoping this crash will have an effect on Corrina's driving and save her life in the future :-)

I believe in after market roll bars.

Out of curriosity how many miles/Km to the English drive each year.  My mothers Saturn has about 237,000 Miles on it.

Corrina is back at work now and looking for another car. I think one with added roll cage and safety harness would be a great idea :-)

237,000 :-o I do less than 10,000 miles per year myself.

800th post..... :pint:

Corrina is back on the road after buying a like new condition Daewoo Matiz this morning. Year is 2002, two lady owners and 30,000 miles. A gift at £1,600 if you ask me :-)

@ AJCopland

Thanks. I sure hope she has learned to drive more slowly and carefully and to wear a seatbelt :nervous:

Here is the daughter I so nearly lost about to set off in her new car this evening :-)

@Mad,

Is your daughter single? ;P

She has a steady boyfriend at the moment and I'm sure your question was intended as a compliment :-)

@ Jose

Yeah they probably aren't the strongest built car in the world, but the Daewoo Matiz is cheap on insurance for new drivers and at 796cc are economical (a good thing too considering the price of fuel! :-o)

Corrina has been back on the road for 5 weeks without further incident. She drives more slowly now and always wears her seatbelt :-)

Hi Guys & Gals,

How time flies! Corrina is now the proud mother of unidentical twin girls aged 4.

Their names are Mylie and Natasha.

Happy New Year :drink:
