And here is the full startup-sequence of a 3.0 Install Disk:-

C:Setpatch >NIL:
C:Version >NIL:
C:AddBuffers >NIL: DF0:  15
FailAt 21

C:MakeDir RAM:T
Copy ENVARC: RAM:ENV QUIET ALL NOREQ

C:Assign >NIL: ENV: RAM:ENV
C:Assign >NIL: T: RAM:T

C:LoadWB
EndCLI >NIL:

Hmmm...It is certainly worth adding the line that moto has suggested.

However, I have just booted into an original 3.0 Install Disk that does not have that extra line. When I open up my Ram Disk icon the drawers ENV and T are both in there.

Prehaps you could look in your Ram Disk after booting into your 3.0 Install Disk and let us know if you have them too?

Congrats mate :pint: I've been messing around here with the Install 3.0 disk for a while trying to help, but have ended up confused :-?

I've tried booting into the Install 3.0 floppy disk with two A4000's. One has 3.0 ROMS (39.106) and the other has 3.1 ROMS (40.068), but neither can boot into it. However, both can boot into the Workbench 3.0 floppy disk. I've tried adding moto's extra line but this has made no difference.

However, I've also tried using an A1200 with 3.0 ROMS and an A1200 with 3.1 ROMS, and both *can* boot into the Install 3.0 disk.

Does anyone have an any ideas as to what the problem could be with the A4000s and booting into the Install 3.0 disk?

(My only thought is that the 68060.library is not on the Install 3.0 disk, but at 102K it will not fit on it)

Thanks

@ karel

That's very good indeed thanks mate :pint:

I'm not actually stuck trying to install Workbench myself as I have many other ways to get it into a hard drive.

I'm just curious as to why my A4000's only read the Install 3.0 floppy disk for about 8 seconds and then stop, pause for another 20 seconds and then display a red Software Failure guru. Then they reset and start the cycle over again  :-?

EDIT - I started my own thread and was helped to solve this puzzle
