Can anyone make me an icon please?
« on: December 31, 2006, 12:53:08 PM »
Does anyone have the know how to create a nice icon for me to get when I insert a Jaz disk please?

My current icon of OS3.9 goes into Workbench:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys and is called 'def_jazpc.info'

I have a photo in mind for the icon but do not know how to insert it into this post for you to see.

Can anyone be of help?  :-?

Gulp!  :-?

I've e-mailed the photo to you. Would you kindly post it below please as I think I would be all day following your instructions above

I don't need the icon to be that big though

Thanks

@keropi
Thanks for your help. I'm gonna try to bring in a small image I've put at Photobucket.com

WooHoo! :-)

@
Paradox
Nice thanks.

@karlos
Very clear thanks.

Unfortunately I don't think we can just make a JPEG, PNG or GIF image, rename it as 'def_jazpc.info' and put it into Workbench:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys of OS3.9

Any more ideas please anyone? :-?

@ Thomas
I haven't installed PowerIcons as I read that it even slows down an 060. I've not fuly installed KensIcons either for the same reason. But I have chosen some of KensIcons that I like and renamed them as 'Disk.info' and put them on my partitons (see attached Workbench screengrab) I'm prety happy with the way it looks :-)

@ Lurkist
Many thanks for that detailed instruction. I have an icon at the top of my Workbench screen but it ain't too pretty and is not a glow icon. I'm not familiar with doing this kind of icon editing, so prehaps someone could help me out a bit here please?

@ everyone
Thanks for your help.

I've had no success in creating a nice icon myself in IconEdit   :-(

Sorry to ask, but would anyone care to download the 420 x 322 image from keropi's post above and make it for me please?
 :-?

I'm happy for it to be facing the way it is my Workbench screengrab, as I want it to stand out from the rest. I'm also happy with its large size but could do without it being in a white square of course. A glow icon would be nice too.

Happy New Year :pint:

Yeah it is a Picasso-II graphics card that keeps the chip mem figure looking good. After booting up my A4000 three very high quality JPEG images are displayed for Workbench, Window and Screen, but I still end up with over 2MB of chip mem showing  :-)

This figure was just below 2MB in the above screengrab as I had just used CyberGrab to put a 400K ILBM image into RAM. Also Cyber-Photogenics was running ready to convert the ILBM image to a JPEG for uploading onto photobucket.com and briging back here.

My thanks to Keropi for his *idiot proof* instructions on how to do that

And thanks again for the great 2GB Jaz icons Lurkist

@ dwyche

IconEdit drove me nuts

But I'm gonna try to be of help if I have understood your question correctly.

You need to put your new icon called 'def_ram.info' into Workbench:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys

If you just put in into RAM:Env/Sys it will not be there after a reboot.

Oh! in IconEdit be sure to select 'Disk' from the menu called "Type" before saving. With the great 2GB Jaz icon that was kindly made for me, I had to change it from the type 'Tool' to 'Disk' before it would work.
