Building my dream machine
« on: December 05, 2006, 02:08:17 PM »
Hi folks,

I'm a long-time Amiga user.  I used my Amiga day and night between 1988 and 1996.  Mostly for demoscene stuff (coding, watching demos).  I then switched to Linux, but used my Amiga a little now and then.  A couple of years ago I bought an A4000/030@25 which I'm currently upgrading to a "dream machine", the kind of thing I dreamed of in my teens.

The stats are (brag alert):
- PicassoIV with 17" LCD monitor
- X-Surf network adapter
- 40G 2.5" hdd
- 32x CDRW
- Lyra PS/2 keyboard adapter with Happy Hacker keyboard
- On its way: Kickstart 3.1 and OS3.9
- On its way: Cyberstorm 68060@50
- Planned: 128M RAM

I find myself spending more and more time infront of this beauty.  In fact, I've had serious problems getting to bed in time lately.

It's like the good old days again.  68k assembly still is as beautiful as poetry.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.

tonyvdb: I have been thinking about throwing everyting into a tower, but decided to stay with the original casing for two reasons.  1) Having a customized tower shipped to Norway is euh-xpeh-nsive, and 2) I like to show everyone that this is an Amiga, not a PC running UAE (which it might look like).  For now.  Maybe I'll go tower later, time will show :)

Piru: snappy assembler response coming up soon ;)

amigakit: Can't believe I didn't order the KS3.1 chips from you.  I ordered my chips at a local store in early November, a friend of mine ordered his from your store at the same time.  He got his after 1 week, I'm still waiting for mine :(
