Blizzard 1260 questions
« on: July 20, 2007, 01:44:56 AM »
hey Amiga fellow users, I have a few questions regarding Blizzard 1260, let's hop onto it:

1.is there a such thing as Blizzard 1260 desktop and tower edition?
I'm planning to use it in my desktop(nostalgia purposes and I'm not sure about tower look for my beloved Ami)

2.will the regular stock A1200 supply will be efficient?(I believe it's the regular A600 POW),
is it posibble if that wouldn't be efficient this could damage my accelerator or Amiga 1200 in any way?
or simply it wouldn't boot up?

3.is there a way to check your motherboard revision using software progs?

4.I have a Blizzard 1230 IV right now and everything works great although every once in a while, while resetting using 3 hit combo(ctrl A A ), system is loading and suddenly resets itself and loads again after which loads just fine but it's a bit annoying sometimes.(I think that happens because of the timing mobo-accelerator), I've heard about patch that could fix this.

5.which drivers would be absolutely the best after my Blizzard 1260 is inside my A1200.

awaiting your reply guys  :-)

excellent, that's what I thought.
I do have power supply that should be more than enough (115 vac!) it came with my Amiga CD-32 and SX-1 when I bought them both as a bundle but I never actually used it since my other regular CD-32 power supply was working great, this one is definetely not a standard CD-32 POW(probably this guy sent it, so you could easily connect lots of external devices to SX-1 easily), that's for sure, looks like a really powerful pow so take a look at pics and let me know what do you think(I haven't tested it yet):

any chance I could use this for my A1200?

as a matter of fact jose, I've read all these sites, the reason I asked about any difference between "desktop and tower versions" is because there was a guy who was trying to convince me about existing of such cards.
I wanted you guys to reassure me ^_~
I got my awesome Blizzard 1260 today and it's ready to use but I'm not putting it in because I want to make sure everything is set(power supply wise and so on).

all Blizzard 1240's and 1260's by DCE have Blizzard 1240-1260 printed on them.

Not quite true. The 1240 blizzard I bought from a company out in Ohio, sent theirs with a very small fan attached and a trapdoor with a hole drilled to let it blow out.

that would totally make sense since 1240's are getting hot relatively fast.

jose I know you sold recently faulty 1260, what was wrong with it and how much did you pay for it(I assume it was one of those "as is" auctions)?

well I've been reading about Blizzard accelerators(mainly 1260's) and not one source tells you, to not to use accelerator with standard A1200 power supply, even in the Blizzard manual.
I only have internal hd (800mb) connected to my A1200 and now I want to use Blizzard 1260 with SCSI-II module so there are only   two devices turned on, that setup won't be able to power up and function correctly?

thanks again for all replies, of course I won't be risking my precious card ^^
so where can I get such power supply?
I did a quick search for bigfoot power supply on softhut but c'mon, there's no way I'm gonna spend another $100 on it
I have already spent a fortune on B1260  :-)
so what other searches should I do?
any good shops with reasonably priced Amiga PSU's?
