workbench startup problem
« on: January 06, 2007, 05:10:06 AM »
hey^^
I have a question for you guys.
I installed today a game on my amiga, and after that, even after system has been turned off, and turned back on, I'm not directed to the workbench, but to the game itself(probably after installation workbench wrote special startup for it, and I don't know how can I go directly to the system as usually before, and maybe delete all unnecessary game sequences from workbench(the only way I can enter workbench is from floppy disk, but I want to be able running it from the hard drive as usual).
and also if you could tell me what's the command to start workbench from shell, that'd be great.
cheers!

I actually tried that.
when I'm trying to type loadwb in bootmenu, message appears:please enter env into floppy drive.
when I'm booting from floppy then I'm going to the execute command window and typing
edit startup-sequence,
and the editor appears.
tried to type loadwb there, but didn't work, it says - invalid command.

ok, thanks for the input.
so I deleted all commends from there(there were only game startup-sequence, maybe system startup has been overwritten?)
and all I get is to enter amiga dos, and nothing happens.
loadwb doesn't work, assign env:ram doesn't work either(it says invalid name of device),
anyone can tell me what's the usual startup commend for workbench from hard drive?
cheers!

yes, I typed it and it shows everything fine, except system doesn't do anything, so I typed loadwb in the next line, you can see the amiga is blinking for a second, and even though I didn't get env message, system stays there(amiga dos), doesn't boot my workbench as it used to.
so I'm still in amiga dos...

well the reason I'm hesitate to do that is because I wouldn't want to loose anything I had before, here's how the workbench looked like before startup-sequence dilemma.
anyone any other ideas?

ok I can't find startup-sequence on my wb3.0 disk, there is a workbench startup folder though.
should I delete my existing folder of workbench startup folder and drag this one from floppydisk?
I also checked my startup sequence file in my s drawer, there is also another startup sequence outside of the s drawer.
waiting for suggestions   ;-)

yeah smoorke, I copied the file from the disk and it worked!
though my system icon is different(I had the one with the checkered amiga ball and such, these are missing), I would like to install these again, anyone know from where?
thanks everyone  :-D

yeah, I'm always switching to "show all files", everything works except I'm missing few icons I would like to update.
thanks again smoorke and others for all the input :-)
cheers!
