Back to the Amiga
« on: December 08, 2006, 03:34:22 PM »
Hello everyone,

I was a long admirer of the Amiga line (read everything about the architecture, the hw, the custom chips), when I got my A1200 back in 1992 (no harddisk, no monitor :-) ). I was very proud, it was a very nice machine, could do things which made my friends with a pc jealous :-D (like smooth multitasking on a 14MHz processor, but no doubt you all know about this)

Later I bought a a harddisk (made my own 2.5-3.5 connector and put the HD inside the A1200 case - a compact little machine :-D ) and a Microvitec 12" multiscan monitor... that was very cool!
I even tried to overclock by changing the 28MHz xtal on the motherboard... which of course failed, but the tough little Amiga survived it :)

However, I never managed to get an accelerator card, it was way to expensive... and the times were changing. PCs got more cheaper and more useable, and couldn't go without in school... :(

So our ways parted, I sold my A1200 with everything around 1997. But I kept an eye on Amiga, hoping that times get better...

But unfortunately nothing good happened, things get even worse for the Amigas.
And I'm oh so much sorry to see that still nothing promising on the horizon. I'm sad to see that there is no spirit in Amiga Inc. (or whatever they call them selfs at them moment)
to create a new hw platform for the Amiga.

I'm fed up with this bloatware windows (and the ms we-have-invented-everything style). I don't like linux.

I want my Amiga back.

As there is no new machine, I was just looking for buying the OS3.9, and the run an emulator... but there is no OS3.9 to buy??? Uh forget it.

I bought Amiga Forever 2006 Premium edition.
This way I can have my Amiga with me everywhere, even in my workplace :-D
(Very pleased with it. The videos rock. Respect Jay.)

If you read so far, thanks for your patience ;-)

Thanks for the hint!
I tried googling for it, and I think I looked at amiga.com...

But I'm just fine with Amiga Forever. This way I've other licenses included, not just the OS.

But it is good to see some Amigas for sale! Even if they refurbished :-o
