The A1000 chips are NTSC(US) or PAL(EU), not switchable, you will need a TV that can display NTSC, which isnt a major problem I wouldnt think now.
Also as the other people said, a mains dropper from 220-240 50Hz to 110V 60Hz. Maplins sells them cheap in the UK.
