Hi, I'm new here but I decided to register when I noticed you were selling your A1200 setup. Lol.

To be honest I've actually been lurking here for over a year, and seeing pictures of your expanded A1200 some time ago introduced me to the idea that you can actually do a lot more with classic Amiga Hardware than I realised!

This site is very good for information/discussions about classic Amiga hardware, and showed me stuff I never thought possible. This led me to make several purchases from online shops like AmigaKit (very good service btw :) ) and also to start using eBay!

I was surprised to here you're changing to the A4000(D) route because that's the way I started initially before bumping into a few problems.

First the super buster revision needs to be 11, this ensures there's no Zorro III issues with more than one card installed. Secondly the A3640 I had was revision 3.0, which happens to have crashing issues with Cybervision 64/3Ds.

Obviously if your going for a Cyberstorm that won't be a problem, but you'll still need rev. 11 buster. (I can't remember if the person selling you the A4000 has one installed.)

Though I had problems with the CV64/3D, I still say it is a very good card, the scandoubler it comes with does all the automatic switching between native and RTG resolutions for you, which is handy. I personally had problems installing the card (with scandoubler module attached) into the daughterboard and ended up damaging the motherboard just trying to get the scandoubler in. But to be honest I'm not very good at installing hardware, and for all I know the daughterboard could have been a bit stiff.

If you are looking for a CV64/3D (I think it's already been mentioned) Softhut have actually got a few in stock and seem to be going for reasonable prices. Here is the link: DCE CV64/3D

Anyway, sorry for rambling a bit. I stopped posting on internet forums some time ago, but guess I thought this site was worth it. Hope you are successful in your A1200 - 4000(D) conversion.

Philip
