---====UPDATE====---- A3000 Rom help needed
« on: August 08, 2007, 01:01:17 AM »
I just bought a set of roms from software hut for my 3000D the current rom chips are superkick roms.
I can't figure out if I remove these roms and put the new 3.1 roms into those sockets at U182 and U183 or if the 3.1 roms go into U180 and U181 as shown on the label stuck to the top of the 3.1 roms.

Can someone please shed light on this?

Thanx!!

Hey everyone I just got my rear set of 3.1 roms for my 3000 and they work great. It appears that there is a difference in the rom pinouts between the front and rear set. I think Intel actually makes the rear rom at any rate it is working with 3.1!!!

Thank you all for the help   :-D

I tried putting them in U180 U181 and removed the superkicks from U182 and U183. The system did nothing when turned on.

I have a rev 6.1 board which also has jumpers near the U180 and U181 which are numbered 180 and 181 currently on pins 2-3. I am wondering if I need to move them to pins 1-2?

@amiga92570

I have the rom chips that go in the rear 2 rom sockets u182 and u183. I guess I will have to get the correct ones from software hut.

@TjLaZer

I am not sure what the difference would be in the chips? I did look at the instructions and it did mention the rom tower that the chips would go in the same sockets in the tower.

Thanx for the info. guys

@da9000

I already did reverse them in both the front 2 sockets and the rear 2 sockets. I put them in the front sockets and rear sockets. I filled all 4 sockets with the 1.4 roms and 3.1 and did reverse all 4 chips nothing worked.

@all

I have emailed software hut and am getting the correct ones sent to me. I do need the rear 3.1 rom set as mentioned before.

The guys at software hut are upright guys, I explained my situation and they offered to take the originals back and send me the right ones. I decided to keep the originals as I have a 3000D on the way which needs 3.1 roms as well that they might work in and if not I can send them back for another set of rear 3.1 roms which has been OK'd by software hut already. The second set of roms cost me only 35.00 plus shipping they gave me a break on the second set since I already oredered one set.

I will plan on doing more business with software hut in the near future.

Thanx everyone for the help I am confident the new roms will get me running again.

@eslapion

I am also confused  :crazy: over the 182-183 socket thing. I would guess that the pinouts for the roms might be reversed since they would go upside-down in a rom tower.
I was told by Software Hut that if I had a rom tower the roms they sent would work fine.

Does someone have a rom tower in a 3000D that they could look at the pinouts somehow?
