hdtoolbox problem or am I missed something?
« on: November 01, 2006, 10:20:46 AM »
Dear Amigos!

I have a little problem. Recently I just came back to the world of amiga. (after 10 years) Now i decide, to upgrade my belowed a500. Now it has an Mtec board with 68030 (unfortunatelly it's just 14MHz) with an 6882 FPU. This card has a 4Mb Fast ram too. My board is the latest (8a.1) rev a500+ mobo so i gave it to +512Mb on the board and +512Mb to a  trapdoor card . Now it has 1,5Mb chipram! The kickstart also changed to 3.1.
Now here is my problem: I have two IDE controller card. These babies connected to the side expansion port of a500. The first is seems  to be unworkable. (the hd motor is spin up, but there is no working board on the list of the boot, and hdtoolbox doesn't recognize any hd-s)
The other board is with the option of 4 30pin simm modules. Unfortunately i sold my old modules years ago. Now recently i earn some new but i couldn't make it to work yet. This controller is a working board on the boot menu list. Hdtoolbox recognize my 40MB old conner (yes 40MB!), but it doesn't save any changes to it. (sometimes they do, but then i cannot format it. error after x percent.) As i remember its some erros ten years ago too, but working this controller for years.
Hdtoolbox recognize my seagate 4.2GB hd. (Correct numbers, only problem is, its recognize my hd to size of 7MB) But when i want to save changes to disk, its says error 45. I couldn't make any low level format, because the same error code.
I have two western digital hd (1 and 1,6GB), but they won't show in the list at all. The controller card is a Hungarian clone of the commodore scsi controller as i now. Of course its modified a lot. (not scsi, its at-bus ide, it has auto boot option on 1.3 etc.). This device looking for ide.device as i now. These carsd made two hungarian guys: cornelius and chexum

Any idea? May I write some wrong number in the icon numbers of hdtoolbox. Its the 3.1 os hdtoolbox version.

Pleez help.

ThX! Hdinsttool seems more comfortable, but my problem still persist. Maybe I try a smaller hdd.
Another question: In os 3.1 only the smaller hdd-s working (below 4GB), or if i use a 20gb hdd it only works if i use only 3.9gb?

Now i have some problem with sfs but i think i must follow the link what u offer me.
