I "installed" it, but it will not boot :(. At least not yet..., what a mess. I can only imagine how sale of system like this would looks like "for general public" :).

I very vaguely recall you need to edit something in the kicklayout file before it will boot..

Also I think you need to make sure you install it on the first 4Gb of your drive, otherwise it wont be able to load the kickstart required for bigger drives. But I could be mistaken there, I have IDEFix Express.

I agree with you 100% regarding the hassle to get things working being the most rewarding thing about the Amiga. That is, as long as you keep making progress.

So, I did exactly (including block size..., saving file system in RDB - I did that already few times...) as in your blog and after finished installation Amiga will not boot from HDD, only screen with floppy drive.

HDD (partitions) are not visible in early boot menu.

I'm using 4xEide to install OS4.1.

BTW. When I install OS3.9 system WILL book perfectly fine. I'm actually thinking of making dual boot and see how this will work.

I can recommend going for a dual boot set up, or even triple. I have a first small partition with plain WB3.1 that I can use to boot into 3.9 or 4.x. It loads the IDEFix mounting commands so those partitions can live outside the first 4Gb.

060 + PPC really make OS3.9 fly.

Just to get this straight, PPC doesnt do anything on OS3.9. In best case it serves as a passthrough for a Bvision. And yes, OS3.9 is very responsive on RTG but PPC has nothing to do with that!

The only purpose for PPC under OS3.9 (apart from applications, games and demos) are archivers and datatypes.

I am very interested to know which libraries you refer to. Indeed I do not use 4.x much on my classic PPC, even though I have to admit the OS itself is not slow.

Never, never give up on Amiga related stuff... ;). For me it is more about "making it work" (and I expressed this many times).

Just saying ;) You're not trying hard enough! :laugh1:
