I almost have the full 2Mb (1,992Mb) chip available but that is because I have fastram which you lack, I assume? On an unexpanded machine I would probably not start WHDLoad from Workbench but boot without startup-sequence and go from there. That way you can at least still have a good looking Workbench (from which you can load some of the less demanding WHDLoad games).
Amiga 1200 (1d4) Kickstart 3.1 (40.68), Elbox Power/Winner tower (450w psu), BlizzardPPC 603e+ @240mhz & 060 @50mhz, 256MB, Bvision, IDE-fix Express, IndivisionAGA, 120GB IDE, cd, dvd, Cocolino, Micronik Keycase, PCMCIA Ethernet, Ratte monitor switcher, Prelude1200, triple boot WB3.1 / OS3.9 / OS4.1, Win95 / MacOS8.1

I think add21k does that. I could use add36k but iirc there's some problem with it.

I dont think thats what it does. I believe it redirects some stuff to be stored in fast ram instead of chip.

lowering the workbench resolution and colour depth will definitely help. I assumed you already lowered it down to minimal spec.

also, are you using a launcher for whdload? try quitting it straight after starting a game. thats a trick I tend to use with iGame.
