What image viewer for OS3.9 + cgx/ppc?
« on: February 09, 2010, 09:34:08 PM »
Hi all, I'm trying out different imageviewers for my OS3.9 setup, but there are just too many options! What imageviewer do you all use and why?

I really need something that always retargets to CGX, and preferably something that decodes images on my PPC processor (in advance, too!). Ofcourse it has to support all filetypes, from JPEG to IFF24.

From what I remember, imageviewers that use datatypes are slow compared to imageviewers that have their own encoding engines. Still correct?

Please advice!
Amiga 1200 (1d4) Kickstart 3.1 (40.68), Elbox Power/Winner tower (450w psu), BlizzardPPC 603e+ @240mhz & 060 @50mhz, 256MB, Bvision, IDE-fix Express, IndivisionAGA, 120GB IDE, cd, dvd, Cocolino, Micronik Keycase, PCMCIA Ethernet, Ratte monitor switcher, Prelude1200, triple boot WB3.1 / OS3.9 / OS4.1, Win95 / MacOS8.1

After weeks of fiddling I have decided Visage (with ppc datatypes) is still the best viewer available. Picshow came really close but Visage has a lot more flexibility; I couldnt get Picshow to swap to the next picture with the mouse / in a fast way, for example. Fastview was pretty good, too, and so were several others. I didn't like Mysticview and Viewtek at all, despite recommendations. Thanks for all your suggestions.
