Network thru serial/parallell link
« on: December 20, 2006, 09:06:26 AM »
Okay, now I have used such an incredible amount of money on amigas this last month, (AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT A.ORG, getting me involved with this exctremly expencive hobby again).

Well, as you can see from my bragging signature, I've gone from non to three (actually I have a spare a4000d, so four) Amigas this two last months.

Yeah, yeah. So I got the a4000t for free, but nothing is as expencive as getting an amiga for free, since I had to upgrade it with a picasso, new harddrive etc.

Well, to the topic...

I see that amigakit is out of x-surfs, and I want to get them all online. I only lack networking on one of the machines, so I was thinking about using a networked machine as an router, using a serial or parallell cable. The speed is not that important.

Does anyone know how to do this. I've done things like this in the past with phones, setting up a ppp link over serial cable to an linux machine etc. So I guess this is possible for the Amiga to?

What tcpip stack supports this?

Thanks for any help.

I have a mac as well and a usb to rs232 adapter. So please give me the instructions for pppd.

The serial link cable, is it just to cross tx/rx (pin 2 and 3 if I remember correctly?).
