Having grown up on the NSW Far North Coast, QLD was always a presence. Sydney was on the TV but whenever we needed to shop we headed to the Gold Coast. We went to Syndey maybe once a year and yet that was what we somehow identified with.
The road to Gold Coast was formidable, full of trucks and the only overtaking point had a speed camera in the middle of it. I wonder now that it is dual carriageway whether it feels so in modern kids minds?
Each State has it's good an bad. I know Victorians that fly to QLD because they don't want to drive to through NSW.
