try softscsi with the latest 1230.ROM file  Maybe it could fix your problem?

sofscsi is on aminet.  You can also try blizkick and its module which is the best option (because you can use many modules to replace parts of kickstart and you can make a single reboot machine using it if using it with OS3.9)
