First, definitely buy a "new" PSU if you are using an ancient A500PSU.

Second check if 040 is cooled sufficiently.

An alcohol bath, is always good for Amiga (I use lemon cologne which is common in Turkey :P )

LOL! Lemon cologne... I bet that Amiga smells awesome after it's good and warmed up.

So you literally drench the entire PCB in an alcohol solution FaLLeNOnE? How has that practice been working out for you? Doesn't hasten drying out electrolytics?

I use soft cotton and wipe the pcb. I don't actually drench it inside a pool of lemon cologne :D

I have seen many Amigas return to life after this. I adviced it to some of my friends and it worked for them too.

I think it's the smell that makes them wake up! :P

PS: Never did it to my A4000T. That's not why it's dead at the moment if you wonder.

Ahh... a "whores bath" is what you give 'em then.

Time to try it on your A4000T next!

She's got a melted P9 power connector. It happened as a result of me forgetting to use protection :P (an unreliable PSU on an unreliable electrical cable actually, which I found out about after it happened)
