Amiga Diagnostics Utility
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:52:47 PM »
Is there a diagnostics utility that tests an Amiga (for example an Amiga1200) and tells information about it?

For example, "you need to do these timing fixes" sort of thing?

or "there is that problem on the x pin of the PCMCIA slot and you need to do this to fix it"

or "your xxx storage device can't boot because xxx is incompatible"

or "your xxx device has x problem because the x pin on the cable should be xx"

or "your right mouse button does not work because xxx chip is defective"

or "you have xx missing from your motherboard and because of that your screen will flicker even in noninterlaced modes"

?

Could be, but it's quite impossible to create one.
Only

is doable.

This at least if you're thinking about sw only solution.

Is it impossible or extremely hard to create? :)

The person who attempts such a thing probably would need to know more about Amiga than Jay Miner himself.

I guess we would need some "hardware" to check the voltages though, but can't software check the voltages? (maybe depending on the results it should get?)

You would need a scanning electron microscope + some kind of hardcore AI and probably a few other things that haven't been invented yet.  Can you wait 1000 years? :)

umm.  Is it possible to set my Amiga's date to 3011 ? :)
