Ps: surprised no one else has posted this on here or seems to be that interest in Amiwest, so how come amiga.org users? I know many of you are on other forums so I can kind of understand why discust topics on mulitable forums but still just found it a little odd.

Maybe people here aren't as gullible as they are on other forums.

Any news for the AOS4.x netbook? I hope the answer is yes as i would love to try AOS4 on the cheap.

There's a summary of ssolie's "State of OS4" talk here:
http://moobunny.dreamhosters.com/cgi/mbmessage.pl/amiga/228597.shtml

About that netbook:
- When will you release the portable? "I don't have any additional information of releasing the portable. It's coming along, but I have no more to say than that, haha"

Thanks Jorkany. But to be honest i would prefer an offical statement from Hyperion instead of moobunny.

Understandable! Not sure if you've seen it but ssolie started a "clarification" thread on AWN in regards to his presentation, there's also a post there about the netbook:

PS why does he constantly say "haha"? It's creepy.

Probably a nervous reaction to being put on the spot with no real information.

Look at some recording from the presentation and you will notice yourself that the moobunny post was actually a *pretty accurate* summary of the official statement from Hyperion, including the "creepiness".

Got a link to any of the videos? I don't see any on youtube or Vimeo, and the AmiWest site is down due to bandwidth exceeded (maybe they tried to host video there).

also funny that he claims he has been given information about the subject last year but today  not anymore. one could start conspiracy theories like he has been fired but doesnt want to admit but i rather think he has been used to spread rumors and as soon as he has fulfilled his task he has become a burden..

i mean he says literally, he has no information, which i dont want to question, as i dont think he could be a genuine liar. this means, he knows about the same what we do (being apparently a pr sort of guy)..do i have to say more?

Well in the presentation summary posted on moobunny he's quoted as saying he does not work for Hyperion. This is one of the reasons I want to see the presentation video. If ssolie does not work for Hyperion, then why is he presenting for Hyperion and also claiming to be their Team Project Lead for OS4? Can anybody just say anything and have it accepted by the OS4 community? Or is Hyperion no longer involved in OS4 development?

I'm not Trevor, but anyway:

>1) Apparently you and your company (A-EON), invested a substantial monetary investment in the X1000. My question is why?

I believe it's because Trevor likes AmigaOS and wanted to see the most modern PPC Amiga possible.
(a few years ago PA6T was best, next year Freescale T series will be the king of PPC)

>but costs over 3 times the price

Just remember that original estimated price would only have been 50% of what it ended up to.

That was no "estimate". That was bait & switch, pure and simple. A-Eon could not have said, "Hey guys! We've got a new OS4 machine coming, and it's only $3000+! You want, just register your interest, LOL!"  Maybe not enough people would jump at $3000, but many might at a price just a bit higher than a SAM.

What I remember is when the original A-Eon was formed one of the partners was Trevor's level-headed business buddy whose job was to ensure that the effort didn't turn into a giant money sink. That partner left, now we can see some of the reasons why.

I agree we need affordable HW.

>2) We've had rumors for over a year now for a "cost-effective" netbook for OS4. While I am aware that you are not directly related to this, it's done nothing, but cause an even bigger rift in a dwindling market.

Some people had too big hopes? Most likely.
It could have been anoounced more carefully.
"we are working on to get AOS to run on a existing PPC netbook. Realease date is not known. perhaps in 2012."

Other than that... Yes, it's a shame that not all projects happen as planned.

The netbook is one "project" that seems to have worked as planned. It never had to actually exist, you know. Let's see if it continues to work for the next year.

>5) Finally, and I mean this with the utmost respect, but GET YOURSELF A PUBLIC RELATIONS LIASON!!!!!!

Who would be that person?

Rogue claims there already are "marketing guys" for Hyperion, why not ask him about who they are?

http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/viewtopic.php?post_id=74374#forumpost74374

In the past ssolie claimed he was the Hyperion rep, but now he claims he barely even works for them, despite being the "Project Team Lead". You'll never get a straight answer out of anyone associated with Hyperion, why haven't you learned that by now?
