Guilty! sorry about that!
Many times the grease hardens on the floppy stepper worm gears. you can take a toothpick and remove all the old grease and add a tiny amount(TINY!) of new lithium grease.
Cleanthe heads with isopropyl alcohol and blow the drive out well with air,cleaning the disk switches helps with contact cleaner too.
i have saved tons of so called "junk" drives that way.

Well cleaned out the dust... tried it out but no dice. I didn't get in to it further as I have floppy drive from a 4000, which I cleaned at the same time I did the 2000 floppy, and she works just fine. I will have to swap eject buttons as to color match the bezel and case

The problematic 2000 floppy drive .. I never heard that "snick/click" sound when the drive is inserted.
Oh dang.. I wanted to take a pic of the Splitfire board that is in das 2000...
