Look forward to any new Amy news

Hyperion site still down (WIP?), Troika website being updated*, supposedly Amy'05's appearing next Big Bash, perhaps a Amy / OS4 release Q4, this year this time?

The spec was a little disappointing a year ago. With Intel dual-cores starting at £70 and affordable quad-cores and DDR3 available a year away (bah!), how easy / difficult would it be for the designers to bung in a faster G3 or G4. Still no comparision but it would be nice if it came close to PPC Mac Mini speeds.

I'm not trying to have a dig at anybody, but as the years go by a 600MHz G3 was ok'ish in 2003 but 2007 it's worringly dated. I could settle for it but in that case I would feel a lot better if it was "a lot" cheaper than £400.

*site may have not have had any life for months

The other problem with a G3 is that it is getting to the stage when it would be cheaper and faster for some x86 hardware to emulate it faster. As a last resort, if no hardware appears would a Virtual A1 / UAE Cyberstorm edition be useful to keep the scene going?

Unfortunately, Hyperion are restricted by their license agreement and can only allow OS4 to run on AmigaOne hardware. Until this restriction is lifted/modified, the only way to (legally) run OS4 is on an A1.

To me the troika board is the last hope of seeing OS4 released in desktop form. Hopefully the license is being negotaited as running only on A1's is a dead end.

I'm not convinced we will ever see any products from Troika or "Amiga". So I'm saving up for a PegII instead  It may not be called an Amiga in brand, but it is more Amiga in spirit than the A1.

I like Peg's! The blues always seem to have the best hardware, but I'm a red at heart. I hope this feud ends and OS4 runs on them, especially if you are right.
