I'm with you;I really haven't found the newer browsers an improvement.All they seem to do is allow more unwanted ads:popup,pop-unders,little video windows of ads....
Netscape 3.0 with a few plug-ins did all I expected.All the updates since then have been FORCED upon me by websites that refused connections even when it is only text and still pictures.
I remember a time when park benches,the city bus,and everything else weren't plastered with obnoxious adverts,and people still bought lots of goods.
Lady Bird Johnson had one thing right with her anti-billboard campaign.
