Cards in my recent A4000

Hey !

I just opened up this kiosked A4000 I bought and it had these in them -

A3640 Board (Rev 3.1) - I am guessing this is standard

A4066 Ameritech Ethernet + - Be nice to plug in to the net for download

A2232 Serial Board - Not an exciting board. This is where the touch screen I have plugs into

GVP HC+8 S2 V2 - no HD Im guessing this is just throwing in some RAM as there are 4 sticks on it.

GVP IV 24 3.10 - The monitor plugs into this as well.

OK. Here are the questions. I have 0 disks or anything from the place I bought it from so it would be awesome if I could just plug this in to my internet connection and download what I need directly.

I am wondering where to find drivers - if needed - for these things so I can put them on a disk. Right now if the HD goes (there are 2)I am sunk.

Also anyone who has experience with this setup any advice or whatever.

If I can't get the monitor to act as a mouse than I will get rid of it and the serial card.

The battery shows some minor corrosion. I am nervouse about just cutting the posts but that is ok, correct?

I have only owned A500, A2000 and A1200 so the A4000 is a new animal.

Thanks guys. My biggest block right now is a mouse that seems to not want to work and since I cant use the touch screen as one I am stuck using the keyboard and loading things via the monitor. It stops me from expanding windows etc. I am not proficient with keyboard commands. And also the absolute lack of the OS disks. This boots directly into the kiosk mode and I break out of it to access WB.

on another note I do have the scala dongle. which is on the first mouseport I believe.

I was hoping to get a cache of books and software and it may happen when the place I bought it from finally moves and they have inventory they want to give me.

It is considerably easier to open the 4000 than the 2000 and it isnt such a beast to work with weight and space wise.

I am thinking I could probably get more out of the video card in the machine but I am scared to do to much without the floppies to get me to a working state when I inevitable screw it up somehow...

You don't really have a graphics card, but the GVP IV24 is a nice video card, similar to the NewTek Video Toaster, but you need the "break-out" box for it to get all the video inputs and outputs to do much of anything with it. Did you get that box?

Indeed I did. Im about to try out the a4000 with my lcd monitor now... the mouse problem is my biggest point right now. perhaps if i revert to a different SS it would help...

Just moved my monitor to the Amiga 4000 and it booted right up into it. looked great. actually got the mouse to work but it crapped out shortly. cut the battery off. Now it seems to be randomly rebooting. Could the mouse be shorting? The mouse worked fine and then went back to only scrolling up and down. The buttons seem to work. Could this be an issue with the mouse port itself?
