A4000 acting wierd
« on: August 14, 2006, 11:33:48 AM »
Hello ppl! I just started up my old a4000 after years in the basement.
I have to say it was not the same as when I last used it.
The machine is an a4k (the old motherboard whit chipram in a SIM slot), a cyberstorm 060 mkI and a Cvision3d.
I started whit reinstall the system and I noticed that Aos 3,9 don't work as it should as most prefs like screenmode will crash on me, also I get this "Workbench, program failed - reboot / suspend" message sometimes. So I installed os 3.1 and it works kinda good _IF_ i remove SetPatch in startup-sequence or else it will crash heavy. :-o
Also the Cvision3d is somehow messed upp as the screen looks kinad wierd whit "stripes" and spots here and there.
Anyone have any idea about any of this?
What can I do to make it run like in the old days?

(sorry about my bad english)

The battery is actually leaking, what to do about that?

Did you install the 060 libraries? (the floppy's that came with the Cyberstorm?)

Also, check if your battery isn't leaking all over the place....

Make sure you thoroughly clean up the battery acid on your board too!

The 060 libs are really important. Without the libs the Amiga will crash a lot or may not even boot into WB AFAIK.

Look here for software:

You should clean all boards in my opinion. Maybe leaking capacitors in the gfx card?
