I don't know about IDE but for SCSI, PFS2 version 4.2 supports partitions up to 104GB using direct-scsi or TD64.  Maximum harddisk size is said to be unlimited but HDToolbox displays wrong values for drives over 4GB.  This page on using big disks with PFS2 may help.

Some tips:
· Upgrade to the latest version possible.  PFS3 is better than PFS2.  If staying with PFS2, use the latest upgrade patch you can find.
· Read Mark Harden's invaluable PFS2 FAQ.
· Take care when setting the mask.  PFS seems to be quite sensitive to it.
