You do know that embedded 486 cpus (late models) can be run at anything from DC to 120MHz or more, don't you?

Also, the EC020 in an A1200 is clocked twice as fast as the 68000 in earlier machines, and has a full 32-bit data path and so can push things through twice as fast again. That can account for most of the difference.
