Damn, still on the West Coast! :)

Yup.  Would cost me between $1100 and $1400 depending... *sigh*

@claw
Actually, the idea for amiwest started in St Louis.
Alan Crandell (from Santa Rosa, CA at the time) was at the St Louis Amiga Show and saw the booth for AEMail (created by John Zacharias) John was wearing two hats at the booth,  both for AEMail and SACC .
The Sacramento Amiga Computer Club that runs the show to this day.
He walked up to John and said " We should have a amiga show like this in California."

You too could startup your own amiga show in MN!

Michael (just one of the folks who helped John run AmiWest)

That's right!  I had forgotten all about that.  Back in the day, St. Louis was too far out for me to make.  Now I could make that easily.  It's gonna cost me far less to attend the TI Faire in Chicago around the same time.  Another heavy sigh.

I'd be happy to put something together in Atlanta, Memphis, Little Rock... just not sure I could get the attendance.  I live close to Atlanta (well, five hours out is close enough, I suppose,) and have business in Little Rock (which is only about an hour or so from Memphis.)  Is there room in this world for TWO US Amiga shows??

Everyone says that they want an amiga show where they live...
but SACC is the only group (that I know) that actually goes to the expense and effort.

But go for it, Atlanta too far for me (LOL)

For that matter, we could have one in Panama City and make use of the beach and new airport.  I don't think anyone wants to come to Tallahassee.  My thought was someplace more central to the Eastern-half of the US.  But then, a location like St. Louis is central to just about everyone (in the 48, anyway,) or even Chicago shouldn't be too bad.

I guess the problem is a bit of a catch-22 for some of us: don't want to put up the resources due to a fear of lack of interest, and fear that interest won't be present without something concrete in place.

The other thing is proximity to an International airport, which SMF is.  I believe that would make it easier for our friends from afar to attend, and there are more than a handful of those at our disposal.

AmiNorth / AmiCentral / AmiEast could be held in the spring, opposite of AmiWest.  If I'm involved, my push would be to happen during my spring break so I don't have to worry about skipping classes.  I think that kind of separation in time would make it easier on visitors and vendors.
