Mechy sells a nice SCSI card reader (CF, SD, Momory Stick, PCMCIA) that would look perfect in that free floppy slot.  ;)

Surprised he doesn't keep his site linked to his sig. Here it is anyway:

...so, is there a bezel or other solution that would make this more attractive an an A2000 case?

In the 5.25' bay with an adapter.

Actually, that sounds great - so long as the adapter was the same color, etc. I could care less about CD-ROM capability on my Amigas *IF* the SCSI CF/SD card reader actually works as advertised. Especially on a 68000/3.1/2091 system. Experience working with SCSI and my spidey-senses tell me it's too good to be true. I'm not even asking for removable on the fly USB-type support, but if you could use a CF or SD card as a vehicle to get information to and fro without a bunch of strange read/write errors all the time, well, guess I'd be surprised. And impressed. And would have to purchase...  lol

Mechy wrote a reply recently that was rather thorough and I have 100% confidence in his products and ability to sqaure things away if/when there are problems. I don't believe SCSI to be "black magic", but I have run across my fair share of completely idiotic and unexplainable behaviors dealing with SCSI all these years.

Latest one has to do with a Plextor CD writer where the 2091 card stubbornly refuses to boot the HD quickly as it would if there were a non-writer installed. With a CD in the drive, the 2091 card *does* allow for a quicker boot, but is still not as fast to get off its ass upon a reset/cold boot. And yes, all settings and config scenarios have been covered. *This* is the sole reason I'm even considering one of his SCSI<>card readers, BUT... I've got another question about his reader, which I'll do in a PM.   :)

SO what up with my A2000 floppy drive.. HELLO.

What's wrong with your floppy?

I have a few collecting dust over here if you'd like a replacement. BUT... have you tried douching yours out real well first? Mixture of Summers Eve and contact cleaner usually sets 'em right.       j/k

Okay, taking a cotton swap or tooth brush and cleaning out the grime is the first thing I'd do. Sometimes if they're real bad, I'll have a vacuum at the ready to suck all that crap up. Cans of air will just blow all the dust around and ends up in your eyes and everywhere else.

Next, see the two little black switches near the front left? Spray some contact cleaner into them and actuate manually a few times. Next, you can try cleaning the heads with a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol.

Someone here also wrote up a nice "how to" when it comes to removing the old grease from the rails that the head moves up and down on and then reapplies lithium, so that might be in order to.

Failing all that - hit me up for a working drive if you want! Mine are missing the front plastic bezel, so you'd have to make sure you keep yours...
