Moderators, please excuse the post in this particular forum. Figured ‘Amiga Community Support’ would be just as good a place as any to post this, taking the forum’s name in the literal sense. Also wanted this to show publicly in the status updates for maximum visibility. If you feel visibility would be just as good, in another more appropriate forum - by all means, please move it then.

Marc Frick’s (user marcfrick2112) father William passed away yesterday, late afternoon. I thought it would be nice to put together somewhat of an online eulogy for him and felt, under the circumstances, we could start a fund of sorts to help him with some of these untimely costs. Details toward the end of this note.

I met Marc sometime back here at Amiga.org and developed an instant rapport. We exchanged e-mails, phone numbers and before too long, started trading Amiga goodies. Living in the same state and “only” an hour-and-a-half away, Marc extended an inviation to come check out his collections - which my girlfriend and I decided to take him up on one afternoon. It was the first and only time we met his father, but that first impression is one that will last forever in our minds. Having been a curator at a local museum for many years, Bill was an interesting man to say the least. We were quickly taken by his honed art of conversation and wealth of knowledge. A polite and charming man with a seemingly endless amount of historical banter to speak about. Despite his health problems, Marc’s father appeared full of life during our visit, even though we knew better, but it did come as a bit of a surprise; that his health took such a serious turn so quickly.

Knowing a little about Marc’s background, modest employment status and living situation, I felt it appropriate to set up a fund where people may want to help out if they can. Economically the times are tough for most all of us, but not as tough potentially as they’re going to be for Marc, who is a sole survivor. No other immediate family to help out during this most awkward time.

I’ve taken the liberty of creating a special PayPal account on Marc’s behalf with a gift already deposited. If you want to just "sign" this virtual sympathy card, that's fine too of course. No pressure here at all to make a donation, but any amount would be appreciated if you are able. PayPal address is: marcandre@earthlink.net.

Thanks for reading  :)
