Overload should not be a problem here. We're talking about inconsequential voltages into negligible loads - unlike an audio power amplifier into a set of speakers.
Besides, these machines were designed to consumer friendly. They wouldn't have more ins and outs than a transsexual-nazi-eskimo without littering the computer and manuals up without warning labels everywhere ;-)
