new 600
« on: December 02, 2008, 12:56:13 AM »
i dont like coming across as bragging, but thought id share how i recently scored a brand-new a600.

after my 600 crapped out on me during a show last october i started looking for machine/mobo replacements.

the prices on ebay in the US are so high its frustrating so i started looking on ebay.de, ebay.com.au, ebay.uk, etc.

not all international listings are listed on the US site. i came across an ad that looked good on ebay.de and used google-translate to get the details.

i have a friend in berlin and asked them that if the seller was unwilling to ship it to me in new york, if i could have it shipped to them and then shipped to me. they agreed + the seller agreed.

well, i won it on october 19th and i was pretty skeptical of the seller's statement that it was "brand-new", but i thought at least it'd be near newish.

anyways, it arrived today and it is absolutely stunning how new-like it is... its like museum quality or something. seriously its like brand-new!

i'd take some pics, but it'd look pretty silly sitting around all the other dirty {bleep} in my apartment haha.

anyway i actually replaced the motherboard and HD in my old amiga (see other threads. thanx lierbag!) so the new one will likely just stay packed away for some future catastrophie :)

here's the ebay listing i won btw: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280276306240

basically the point is, sometimes even if an overseas seller doesn't specify international shipping, or maybe you dont think they'd speak english... a simple message to them may score you a deal :)

it didnt come with the original box + it is a german keyboard... neither of which are really any concern to me... it did however come with the original purchase reciept -- in german :)

im not sure precisely what "neuwertig" means, but they had %100 of over 1000 feedbacks so it was pretty compelling + germans can often be notoriously detail oriented :)
