Monitor cable for Amiga 500
« on: July 10, 2006, 04:28:45 PM »
Yo!

I was very lucky to got four Amiga 500 and one Amiga 1200HD. What kind of monitor cable it use? I got one Philips and one Commodore 1084 original monitor too.

Philips seems to have normal Scart female plug on backside. Commodore have two kind of RGB holes (TTL and Lin.).

I am not sure does any of them (Amigas) work, but that the reason I took all five to build one working machine. Problem is only now the cable; where to find it or where to get instruction how to make it myself.

I wanted to make an Amiga RGB->SCART cable but couldn't find a 23 pin D connector for the Amiga end. In the end I bought a ready-made cable from eBay.

I have looked the female 23-pin D-connector too very hard and seems there are any of them left. They have died with extinction.  ;-)

Some other n00bie question. Which monitor should be better: the Commodore 1084 or Philips CM8833 and why, and if we forgot the stereo. I think I plug stereo cables to my home stereo system anyway. Philips have Scart and Commodore have both 6- and 8-pin DIN: analog and digital. If Commodore if better so do I get better picture with analog or digital?
