Problem with Amiga CD³²
« on: July 05, 2006, 07:50:43 AM »
Hi everybody,

I have an annoying problem with my CD³²... last year (or 2 years ago..?) I bought this used machine. Some weeks later I also bought a new Amiga-Pad..

But at that time I didn't have the time to test everything.. I just connected the stuff to my TV, tried some games and everything seemed fine..

Last weekend I wanted to play and finish Fire & Ice, but had to quit 'cause this problem appeared:

The first 15 - 20 min the red button on the pad was for shooting, the green one next to it was used for jumping. But suddenly Cool Coyote didn't jump anymore when I pushed the button. So I tried the other ones.. and suddenly 'jumping' was the UP button on the left... hm, strange..

Well I continued but then, after some minutes, I couldn't jump again.. but this time no other button helped me.. I pushed'em all but nothing happend. Only firing icy balls..

Just for fun, I connected the old, freaky pad (that came with the console in those days) to test if the Amiga-pad is damaged, but the same again..

Any ideas? CD³² damaged???

Hi tolishot,

yes, I tried another pad but still the same.. I also tried other games with no difference...

I had some minor problems when I connected the cable with my TV.. could this also cause this problem??

tell me wich cable to use to connect cd32 to tv?

It's the Scart-cable (=> TV) and at the other end the three colored (red/white/yellow) for the CD³²... and I don't know why, but the Scart plug didn't fit perfectly.. and when you touch it the screen sometimes gets black and you only hear the gaming sound...

If you tested 2 or more pads and you have same problem the real problem is your CD32. The problem seems like bad CIA chips. In this case forget the service, look ebay for a new CD32. No mater how many pads or mouse are connected or If you have scart cable for TV, all this is *($)@%#%x^&*(....
 ;-)

Hm, after testing with no success I was afraid that the "machine" was broken... well, I got another one on eBay some minutes ago.. hope this one works..

Hm, I think I have the cable from my CDTV.. Out of desperation I'll give it a try.. but I don't think this solves the problem..
