It's because Winamp by default has interpolation turned on. If you go into the settings for the mod plugin, and turn off interpolation, the sound should improve (IMHO) and sound about the same as on a real Amiga
Unfortunately Winamp seems to have issues with some mods, and gets the timing or pitch wrong once in a while.
